"The Women`s Reservation Bill is essentially the central government`s election manifesto." - K. K. Shailaja CPM central committee member K. K. Shailaja said in a session held at the 7th edition of the Kerala Literature Festival that the Women`s Reservation Bill is only an election manifesto of the central government. The comment was made during a discussion regarding the release of K. K. Shailaja`s book `Nishchayadhardyam Karuthhaay`. The book was released by Central Politburo Member Brinda Karat. The MLA responded both positively and negatively to the question about the media in Kerala. It was mentioned that the role played by the media in the prevention of Covid and Nipah was huge; however, she also experienced certain painful episodes by the hands of media as well. She opined that Kerala as a state plays an exemplary role in improving the lives of all its citizens and expressed that women should enter the public service and political fields. To K. K Shahina`s question whether Kerala needs a woman CM, she clarified that the ruling CM of Kerala is leading the state forward with good ideas. Moderator K. K. Shahina concluded the session by indicating that it is the duty of every citizen to eliminate religious politics in Kerala and citizens should do away with religious segregation.
