"In a world where there is little to no time for discussion or debate, the Kerala Literature Festival maintains a rooted presence." T. D. Ramakrishnan The 88th session of KLF, led by V. K. Jobhish as moderator, delved into the concept that the definition of fantasy encompasses the freedom enjoyed by a writer. T. D. Ramakrishnan emphasized that the logic of fantasy lies in making readers believe the narrative, asserting that a literary work`s success hinges on this ability. Despite making a late debut in literature, T. D. Ramakrishnan highlighted a prevailing conception about the book `Francis Ittycora` in which the protagonist was established as a historical figure among readers rather than a fictional creation. He emphasized that everything encountered in a story, including people, places, time, and dimensions, is an illusion crafted by the writer in such a way that it closely resembles reality. V. J. James extended the discussion beyond fantasy, asserting that a writer`s freedom is not only linked to the genre but also to their beliefs and norms. He expressed that the growth of each reader`s mind or worldview transforms over time. James humorously addressed a query due to one of the audience`s questions about the placement of locations in fantasy or fiction, stating that writers manipulate readers by presenting even the most unreal elements convincingly. T. D. Ramakrishnan also made an exciting announcement, revealing that the second part of `Ittycora`, `Korappaappanu Sthuthi`, will be available soon to his ardent readers, eventually bringing the session to an end.
